This week, Ravensburger officially revealed the gameplay for its highly anticipated trading card game (TCG), Disney Lorcana. Set to release globally on Sept. 1, Disney Lorcana brings fans of the soon-to-be century-old brand to local game stores across the world, along with Disney’s online store, shopDisney. The magic-filled, strategy card game will debut two weeks early at specialty toy stores, hobby shops, and select game stores as part of Ravensburger’s organized play program on Aug. 18.
In Disney Lorcana, players take on the role of the ‘Illumineer’— a spell casters who wields the magic ink to summon the characters of Disney’s most beloved franchises, or ‘glimmers,’ into battle. Illumineers utilize their glimmers, action cards, and item cards in the search of lost lore. Players can choose to either quest for lore with their glimmers or battle it out with their opponents. The first to accumulate 20 lore wins.
As part of its organized play program, Ravensburger is offering a kit of promo cards, pins, and other prizes to players who participate in select game store events around the globe. Game stores have the option of hosting tournaments or 12-week, participation-based league play events with resources provided by Ravensburger.
